You'll need to be pro-active in your job search. Here are some steps to help you find a receptionist job.
1. Prepare a resume to use when applying for jobs. Be sure to include any expertise with computer programs, especially office software, and any jobs where you have interacted with customers. Have someone else read over your resume to check wording and spelling and to give you ideas of changes to make.
2. Check local job boards for openings and for any upcoming job fairs.
3. Apply at temporary staffing agencies. A temporary job could become a permanent one and many receptionist jobs are only listed at temp agencies.
4. Go visit offices and businesses where you think you would like to work. Have a resume ready to hand to the office manager when you make your visit and go dressed as if for an interview. Be prepared to take a word processing test or show competence with other office software.
